Reference Fully-Balanced Headphone Amplification

The SMSL H200 is a fully-balanced headphone amplifier and preamplifier engineered to drive the most demanding headphones with authority and finesse. Built around PLFC+ Discrete amplifier technology and featuring a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio, dual NJU72315 volume control, and comprehensive connectivity including 6.35mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced, and XLR outputs, the H200 delivers uncompromising power, vanishingly low distortion, and absolute channel matching — whether driving high-impedance dynamics or current-hungry planar magnetics.

PLFC+ Discrete Fully-Balanced Amplifier Technology

The H200 employs PLFC+ discrete-component fully-balanced amplifier circuit to achieve extraordinarily low distortion and noise levels. The AAA-888 circuit topology uses a carefully selected discrete components maintaining a true balanced signal path that cancels distortion components before they reach the output stage, resulting in a noise floor that is effectively inaudible and a signal path so transparent that what you hear is the recording — not the amplifier.

Fully-Balanced Architecture from Input to Output

True fully-balanced signal handling runs from the XLR inputs through the volume control stage to the balanced headphone and preamp outputs. This end-to-end differential design rejects common-mode noise, doubles the voltage swing capability, and provides superior channel separation compared to single-ended designs. The result is a wider soundstage, tighter bass control, and greater dynamic expression with balanced headphones.

PGA4311 Precision Volume Control

Volume is managed by the Texas Instruments PGA4311, a 4-channel digitally-controlled analog resistor-ladder volume chip. Unlike conventional potentiometers that suffer from channel imbalance at low levels and degrade over time, the PGA4311 offers 0.5 dB step precision with near-perfect channel tracking across the entire attenuation range — from whisper-quiet to concert-level.

Triple Headphone Outputs for Maximum Flexibility

The H200 accommodates every headphone connection standard: 6.35mm single-ended, 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced, and 4-pin XLR balanced. All three outputs are driven by dedicated output buffers with independent protection circuits, allowing you to connect multiple headphones simultaneously without compromising performance.

Dual NJU72315 Preamp Stage

When used as a preamplifier, the H200's dual NJU72315 balanced output stage drives power amplifiers and active speakers with the same transparency it delivers to headphones. Selectable fixed and variable output modes make it equally suited as a dedicated headphone amp or as the control center of a compact desktop speaker system.

Bright OLED Display with Real-Time Feedback

A high-contrast OLED screen provides clear visibility of input selection, volume level, gain setting, and output mode. Intuitive front-panel controls make switching between headphones and preamp modes, or between single-ended and balanced inputs, fast and frustration-free.

Comprehensive Connectivity

Inputs include balanced XLR and single-ended RCA, while outputs cover 6.35mm, 4.4mm, and XLR for headphones plus RCA and XLR for preamp duties. Whether your source is a DAC, turntable preamp, or streaming bridge, the H200 integrates seamlessly into any high-fidelity signal chain.

Rugged CNC Aluminum Chassis

The H200 is housed in a precision-machined aluminum enclosure that provides robust physical protection, effective EMI shielding, and a clean, modern aesthetic that complements any desktop audio stack. Compact dimensions ensure it fits comfortably alongside your existing components.
