Built around a 16-phase PSRM (Phase-Switching Reference Modulator) module, it delivers a 130dB dynamic range, 131dB SNR, and jitter as low as -157dB – linear, distortion-free sound that reveals every subtle nuance in studio-quality recordings.

Fully Discrete 1-bit PSRM Module

At the core of the D90 III Discrete is a 1-bit DAC that processes audio one bit at a time, avoiding the quantization errors common in multi-bit converters. The PSRM module provides a stable, noise-free voltage reference through rapidly switching phases, keeping fluctuations under control and preserving the integrity of the audio signal for exceptionally accurate, transparent conversion.

16-Phase Modules for Both Channels

Sixteen-phase PSRM modules are used for both the left and right channels, with ultra-fast switching logic arrays and a precision voltage reference. After testing more than 20 components, TOPPING selected the best combination to minimize any disturbance to the voltage reference – a level of engineering that shows in the DAC’s 131dB SNR and 130dB dynamic range.

Ultra-Low Jitter with CPLD Clock Processing

A CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) optimizes the clock signal, reducing jitter to levels as low as -157dB. Timing errors – the subtle distortions that cloud detail – are kept at an absolute minimum, delivering a stable, clean sound that captures even the finest nuances in your music.

Redesigned I/V Conversion Circuit

TOPPING redesigned the current-to-voltage conversion circuit using low-distortion op-amps and ultra-low noise discrete components. The result is pristine voltage output that preserves dynamics and depth, giving your music a lively, immersive presentation.

Ten-Band PEQ for Ultimate Sound Control

A ten-band parametric EQ lets you fine-tune frequency, gain, and bandwidth for each band with TOPPING’s desktop software. Import and adjust target curves, save multiple profiles, and switch between them instantly for a personalized sound signature in any listening environment.

LDAC Wireless Support for High-Resolution Bluetooth

The QCC5125 chip brings Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC, aptX HD, aptX-Adaptive and more, streaming up to 96kHz/24-bit wirelessly – high-resolution audio that rivals wired connections.

High-Resolution USB & IIS Inputs

USB supports PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512 with plug-and-play compatibility across Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android (ASIO driver included for Windows). The IIS interface also supports PCM 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512 native, with multiple IIS modes for broad digital-interface compatibility.

Flexible Outputs – XLR Balanced & RCA

Both RCA single-ended and XLR balanced outputs are available with selectable levels (XLR 4V/5V, RCA 2V/2.5V), and both can output simultaneously to drive multiple systems. A preamp mode lets you connect directly to active speakers or a power amplifier, saving the cost of a separate preamp.

12V Trigger & Bluetooth Remote

The 12V trigger input and output sync power on/off with other devices in your system. A 2.4G Bluetooth remote works seamlessly through obstacles for effortless volume and control from across the room.
