The TOPPING PRE900 is a fully balanced desktop preamplifier engineered for dedicated two-channel systems and flagship headphone stacks. Built around a four-channel reference-grade amplification circuit with a true end-to-end differential design, it pairs a 0.1 dB precision relay volume control, three balanced combo inputs, one pair of XLR balanced outputs, and fully independent digital/analog power supplies with measured performance of 0.00005% THD+N and 151 dB SNR. A 2.0-inch high-definition color display, touch controls, and a CNC-machined aluminum remote complete a preamplifier that is as pure in form as it is in sound.

Full-Path Balanced Architecture

The PRE900 employs a four-channel reference-grade amplification circuit that is fully balanced in every stage — a true end-to-end differential signal path from input to output. Left and right channels are physically isolated to the highest degree, effectively suppressing noise and electromagnetic interference so the signal you feed in emerges exceptionally pure and pristine.

Independent Power Supplies

Digital and analog circuitry are powered completely independently, eliminating crosstalk at the source. Even at high dynamic output the noise floor remains imperceptible: the background stays pitch-black and every musical detail stays vividly alive.

0.1 dB Precision Relay Volume Control

A relay array combined with a high-precision resistor network delivers 1,000 steps of volume adjustment in precise 0.1 dB increments, with every step switching smoothly and naturally. Channel crosstalk is held below −150 dB, keeping left and right channels perfectly synchronized at any volume. Throughout the entire adjustment range, only the volume changes — tonal character remains completely consistent.

Powerful Headroom and Pristine Signal

With an output swing of up to 69 Vpp and gain up to 19.9 dB, the PRE900 sails through explosive transient peaks without clipping, adding power and dynamics to your listening. Its actual noise floor is below 0.3 µVrms at low gain, so even the most delicate signals are amplified without audible noise, preserving integrity, stability, and transparency.

The PRE900’s engineering is validated by APx555B measurements: THD+N of 0.00005% at 1 kHz (A-weighted), THD below 0.00003% from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and 151 dB SNR and dynamic range. Safe Volume Mode

Set a preferred safe volume level and the PRE900 automatically lowers the volume to that preset during power-on and input switching, protecting you and your speakers or headphones from unexpected loud bursts. The user-adjustable range spans −80.0 dB to 0.0 dB with a −30.0 dB default.
